Privacy & Security Statement for Telecommuting Jobs

iVentive, Inc. has created this statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy and security. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the Telecommuting Jobs website.

We do not sell or provide users' information to anyone. User's contact information is used to get in touch with the user only when necessary. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings. See the choice/opt-out section below.

Job Application Security Policy

Telecommuting Jobs Application Security Policies are designed to not only help make the TeleCommuting employment process as secure as possible...but to help insure a successful working relationship. Membership of and use of this site requires an agreement to strongly consider them.

Job Selection. The jobs we select to post are screened -- based on our 13 years of experience -- for not being business opportunities or jobs that require payment or purchase of equipment or services from the employer. Unfortunately, they're getting better at disguising their listings as jobs that meet our listing policy. So job seekers must still stay alert -- and there's a reward for reporting any that slip through our screening.

Our Social Security Number security. It is difficult on the Internet to confirm each and every employer is who they claim to be. So we now strongly urge applicants not to give employers on our site (or anywhere) their Social Security Number (SSN) in application forms...and we appeal to employers not to require it in initial hiring arrangements.

There is a way for job seekers and employers to test the veracity of each other to prevent an identity theft security problem.

First of all the TeleCommuter Hiring Tools we provide like InSiteOffice and Live-Interviewer are amost 100% assurance an employer will get the best match for the job. Then, by producing the quality of work required in a first week of work or an initial project and receiving payment for it proves the long-distance working relationship can work. It also builds the trust to then exchange SSN information.

W-4 forms can then be completed. New hires do not have to be reported in most states for 20 days. An initial independent contractor project of less than $600 can be paid for without filing a 1099 form.

If job seekers do encounter a job application form that requires a SSN, include a note stating that, for security purposes, you would prefer to complete an initial project and be paid before providing your SSN.

If job job seekers feel they have to provide a SSN when applying or they will not get the job, it is incumbent upon them to check the employer out very thoroughly. Some sources to use: Better Business Bureau, RipOffReport, State Attorney General Offices, confirm employer addresses, emails, names

Timeliness of Job Postings. New Job listings are posted each day, though not all job categories get new jobs at the same frequency. The first jobs with the highest Post IDs listed in each category are usually the most recent. Jobs are not dated because some are long term listings by companies that employ TeleCommuters on an ongoing basis (it is the hope that many more companies do as they gain more experience working with TeleCommuters). It would be most confusing to date some and not others.

Job availability is constantly checked. With each application made, the employer posting a job is reminded to advise us if the job is no longer available. All jobs from company and job search sites are removed when no longer available.

Ads are another story. Expect all ads (banners, buttons, sponsor ads) to sell you products or services.

Responses to Online Resumes. All employer responses and job offers are screened before sending them to job seekers to consider and further screen.

This can only provide security for job seeker information if names and email addresses are not included within the body of the resume. Employers contact TeleCommuters based on the skill and experience that best matches their needs...and they can receive personal info after contacting the job seeker. Screening responses to websites you link to are, however, user responsibility.

We reserve the right to modify any resume information not meeting our standards.

Payments for Services: Payments are not made on our site, but at the secure sites of charge and check services contracted for these purposes. Job seekers purchasing an online resume pay via charge card at Verisign, PayPal and PayByCheck. To view their privacy policies, go to: Verisign, PayByCheck and PayPal consumer security information.

Still you need to keep your eyes open. Unfortunately, all eyes must be wide open to the abuses possible on the Wild Web. The most popular and most ridiculously apparent scam of being paid for cashing large, usually foreign, checks has re-emerged. Most likely reborn to prey on the desperate hit hardest by the economic crisis. Obviouly, we must be alert for more insidious scams to follow. If we and the users of this site are all watchful, even the shrwedest of scammers and hackers won't derail our desire to TeleCommute.

We also reserve the right to refuse job listings or resumes deemed offensive, illegal, or fraudulent. By using the Telecommuting Jobs Website and the information it provides, you agree to all of the aforementioned conditions and statements.
